Chanoch Nissany became the first Israeli F1 driver but it was a distinction earned by the depth of his pockets rather than the depth of his talent. He tested for Jordan and Minardi and even made a grand prix appearance during Friday practice for the Hungarian round in 2005. He also raced in a handful of F3000 events in 2004 but failed to make an impression.
