Son of Wilson Fittipaldi and nephew of Emerson, Christian raced in British Formula Three in 1990, peaking with victory ahead of team-mate Mika Hakkinen in the final round. Christian was Formula 3000 champion with Pacific in 1991, so found himself in Formula One in 1992, joining Minardi. He kicked off 1993 with fourth in Brazil, but his most famed move was his attempt to pass Pierluigi Martini at the finish at Monza, with Christian flipping before landing on his remaining three wheels. Two more fourth places followed for Footwork in 1994, but Christian became disaffected and decided on a transfer to Indy Cars for 1995 and has since raced in NASCAR's top stock car category.
