Conor Daly  United States

Profile

The son of former Hesketh, Ensign, Tyrrell, March, Theodore and Williams driver Derek Daly, Conor races under an American licence rather than his father's Irish one.

Starting in karts at the age of 10, Daly won two championships in 2005 to be named the Kart Racers of America Young Driver of the Year. He then became the youngest driver to win a senior race at the age of 15 before moving up to single seaters in 2008. His first season saw him win the Skip Barber National Championship and the Ontario Formula Ford 1600 Rookie of the Year title.

Daly's move to Europe saw him win the Walter Hayes Formula Ford 1600 Trophy on his debut, before he returned to the states to race in the Star Mazda championship, finishing 3rd and taking his first win in the series at the fourth round. 2010 was Daly's breakthrough year as he won the title with a record seven wins, a record twelve podiums, a record nine pole positions and the largest winning points margin.

2011 saw Daly switch to Europe full-time, competing in GP3 for Carlin and finishing 17th in the championship. Daly also competed in five Indy Lights races, winning at Long Beach. The following year he took his maiden GP3 victory at Barcelona and tested a Force India during a straight line aero test before graduating to GP2 with series newcomers Hilmer Motorsport..
