Profile
There was something about Bruno that appealed to both team managers (his speed), the press (his approachability) and fans (he looked so cuddly). He was first seen in Britain in 1976 when he did all he could to stop Rupert Keegan from winning the Formula Three title. March showed faith in him and Bruno raced for Robin Herd's team in 1977 in Formula Two, also making his Formula One debut for McLaren at Monza. McLaren briefly ran Bruno again in 1978, and then he joined Alfa Romeo, for whom he raced until the end of 1982, never landing the results to match the speed. A year with Toleman followed, before a six-year lay-off that was interspersed with sports car and Indy Car races and then a fruitless bid to qualify for the Life in 1990.
