Profile
The first circuit to carry the name of a sponsor, the pastis magnate who financed the construction of this circuit. Built on an arid plateau east of Marseille, it was fast and open, with its long Mistral Straight and Signes corner a test of bravery. The circuit was chopped after Elio de Angelis died testing there in 1986, with a shorter version used until it was moved, for political reasons, to Magny-Cours in 1991.

Notes
After the Paul Ricard died in 1999, the circuit was sold to Excelis, a company owned by Bernie Ecclestone. The circuit was re-built as a test and development center and is now known as the Paul Ricard High Tech Test Track (Paul Ricard HTTT).
The circuit was built in 1969 financed by Paul Ricard who created Pernod Ricard.
