Lewis Hamilton says that McLaren is in the best shape of the season so far going into the Canadian Grand Prix weekend.

Buoyed by his first win of the year at the Turkish Grand Prix, Hamilton said that the team is much better prepared than at any stage last season and is working harder than ever.

"I can't keep the smile off my face - we are absolutely on it! Last year, you saw what we could do when we came from behind - we started the season at the back of the grid, but we were back at the front halfway through the year, and were still able to win two races," said Hamilton.

"This team is just an incredible development machine - it never stops. We live and breathe racing, and we are just churning out new parts, working harder than I've ever seen the team work to try and help us win these world championships."

Hamilton led home Jenson Button for McLaren's second 1-2 of the season in Turkey and is convinced that the competitive relationship with his team-mate will propel the team to further success in 2010.

"I think it's something that has really surprised Jenson - but in a good way; just the intensity and determination with which we push forward. I think the result in Turkey was the perfect motivation we needed, and I know the whole factory is working flat-out to bring forward the new parts."

Hamilton won his first grand prix at Montreal in 2007 and hopes that his fond memories of the circuit can inspire him to further glory in 2010.

"I won my first grand prix in Montreal - 2007 seems like such a long time ago, but I still have some absolutely fantastic memories of that weekend: the pole position, the crazy number of Safety Cars, the uncertainty in the final laps, and then, at last, crossing the line, which just a massive feeling of relief and amazement at the same time. It was fantastic.

"Returning for 2010 is great, because it's such a fast, demanding and unforgiving circuit - I love racing here. It's an incredibly tough track - even if you can avoid the walls, which are really close and exciting at some places, the surface is very treacherous offline because of all the marbles. It's a place where you don't want to make even a tiny mistake."
