Bernie Ecclestone has admitted that he thinks the Bahrain Grand Prix will not take place in October, despite the FIA's decision for it to go ahead at Friday's World Motor Sport Council meeting.
In a BBC Sport interview Ecclestone said: "Hopefully there'll be peace and quiet and we can return in the future, but of course it's not on. The schedule cannot be rescheduled without the agreement of the participants - they're the facts."
The revelation comes after the Formula One Teams Association (FOTA) wrote a letter to the FIA, Formula One Management and the Bahrain Grand Prix organisers, believed to contain an objection to the race taking the place of the Indian Grand Prix on October 30. Max Mosley told the BBC on Tuesday that Article 66 of the FIA's International Sporting Code meant that any change to the calendar requires the written agreement of the teams, and it appears as though that has not been granted.
Ecclestone's comments are a major blow for both the Bahrain Grand Prix organisers and FIA president Jean Todt, who on Monday defended the FIA's decision to reinstate the race. Whether the Bahrain Grand Prix can be postponed to an even later date remains to be seen, but Ecclestone's comments suggest it is unlikely.

wise decision of canceling this GP, bernie should think about the code of law instead of thinking of " money" and beside i do agree with brawn , teams need to spent more time on 2012 coz i think vettel will win this title very soon .
Posted byIt's all about the money to him and Bahrain as we all know is loaded with it, so of course he's going to do all he can to get it on the schedule. The FIA wanted the race because it's a decent venue, but the sheer logistics of it, something the teams would know about best, would be impossible to sort out. I have been in complete agreement with the teams and felt that it should not have been attempted to be rescheduled, and as posted below, Bernie does indeed seem to say the proper thing to say just to make himself look good in the spotlight.
Posted by"We are finished with Silverstone and will never race there again". "I am thrilled to announce that we just signed a long term deal that will keep the British GP at Silverstone for the next 17 years". "F1 could live without the Monaco GP". "It give me great pleasure to say that we ahve just secured a deal to keep the Monaco GP on the calendar for the next 10 years". "Everything is just rosy in Bahrain; there is peace and the people are happy and healthy, looking forward to hosting F1 and the race will be held at the end of the year". "Hopefully there'll be peace and quiet and we can return in the future, but of course it's not on. The schedule cannot be rescheduled without the agreement of the participants - they're the facts." I agree with ricky...One U-turn after another!
Posted byBernie just says whatever makes look him like the good guy at the moment.
Posted byBernie must have been an officer or something of the MMDA here in Manila. We have plenty of U-turn slots all over the Metro because of the MMDA.
Posted byForget Bahrain, its a mess right now...Bernie was wrong to support the race, and now he's forced to withdraw. Kudos to the teams for standing up for themselves!!
Posted byThis is a great News...Thank you TEAMS...Indian GP will rock on 30th Oct 2011....Bring it on...
